On February 6, 2019 at approximately 2:10pm, deputies responded to the 4700 block of North CR-1117 in reference to a Burglary. Complainant stated on February 6 he discovered the front door to his garage damaged and opened.  The complainant told deputies his 2019 Yamaha Raptor 80 cc blue and white in color was stolen from the garage.  Total value of this crime is over $5,000.00.

On February 2nd around 10:00 p.m., a black male between 5’7”-5’9” weighing approximately 150 pounds robbed the AutoZone located at 717 West Wadley at gun point.    The male was wearing a black hoodie with a large graphic of a face on the front and back, light-washed jeans, pink gloves and a gray mask.   The suspect took approximately $300 cash and left the scene in a dark colored newer model 4-door sedan.

On January 9, 2019 at 11:35 a.m. deputies responded to the 4300 block of North County Rd 1140 where the owner of the business state he had a video of four suspects stealing two large hammers and destroying the business’s security cameras.   All 4 suspects were wearing hoodies; however, one subjects face can be seen in the video.

On November 6, 2018, at 6:48 a.m., deputies met with the complainant on a lease road at Hwy 349 and County Road 300.   The complainant stated two enclosed trailers were broken into by cutting the locks.   Several items were taken in the theft including an orange MQ generator, two Dewalt air compressors, and a black 2014 16-ft Lama utility trailer.   The total value of the theft is over $45,000.

CRIME OF WEEK 111918 - HOME INVASION - MPD
November 19, 2018

STATUS: SOLVED

 **UPDATE**   On November 20th, the Midland Police Department's CSI Unit was able to forensically link Samuel Granado to the crime. The Directed Patrol Team located Mr. Granado later that day and took him to the Midland Police Department to be questioned, where he subsequently admitted to being the actor. He was arrested and charged with Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault, a First Degree Felony.  GREAT JOB MPD!! 

On Friday, November 9, 2018 MPD and EMS were called out to the Oaklawn Subdivision at 3:39 AM in regard to a home invasion.

Three victims, two adult females and one adult male were attacked in their home. Upon speaking with the victims, detectives learned that the suspect had entered the home, rifled through belongings, but did not take anything. Rather, he attacked the three residents with household objects. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Later that day, at approximately 6:00 PM, members of the public discovered discarded belongings containing blood at nearby Tumbleweed Park and reported them to MPD. Detectives believe the found items belong to the suspect. The objects include sunglasses, an H2S monitor, cell phone, and several pieces of paper from a ledger.

On October 10, 1987 at 1:18 a.m., officers responded to a business located in the 2200 block of Garden City Hwy in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Jose Omar Cruz 21 years old, with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The victim was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital where he later died from his wounds. A second victim identified the shooter as “El Cato” who was later identified as Catarino Ureste Luna aka: “El Cato”. Law enforcement authorities have yet to locate this suspect and bring him to justice and closure for the family.

If you are the first person to call with information that leads to the arrest of Catarino Ureste Luna, it could be worth a $2,500 CASH REWARD if it leads to an arrest or case solved. You will remain anonymous because no caller ID is ever used.

On the evening of October 26th, an unknown suspect stole a black 2015 Kawasaki Mule Pro F.X.T from a gas plant in northern Martin County.   The last four digits of the VIN are 1427.   The photo is older, and the Mule does not have the light bars mounted any longer like shown in the photo.  It is valued at approximately $16,000.

On September 14th at 10:02 a.m. deputies responded to the 10000 block of County Road 1110 in reference to a black stolen trailer.   The complainant stated the trailer is used to haul trash for the business.   The trailer is 16-ft long with 8-ft expanded metal walls equipped with a scissor lift for dumping.   The trailer has a heart with an arrow cut out of the frame for the hydraulic hoses.

The first incident occurred on September 10, 2018 at 8:44 a.m. at the 4700 block of FM 307.  The complainant stated a Black 2013 cargo trailer was stolen from the location and on September 17, 2018 at 8:47 a.m. deputies responded to the same location where the complainant discovered their company electrical boom trucks had been broken into.  The suspects broke into the tool boxes and stole grounding chains along with assorted tools.   The suspect also cut the mechanical jumper wires from the trucks.   The total value in both cases is over $22,000.

On September 14, 2017,at 9:52 a.m., the Midland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Midland County Courthouse in reference to a bomb threat.  A male caller phoned an employee at the Courthouse and advised there were two bombs located inside the courthouse and two additional bombs placed on the grounds outside of the courthouse.
